La esperanza

“La esperanza es lo último que se pierde”, reza un dicho puertorriqueño. Es la esperanza la que mueve al ser humano a actuar, aún en medio de crisis personales, familiares y sociales. La fuerza que nos da la esperanza nos permite continuar caminando y actuando en el tiempo de vida que Dios nos ha regalado.

En las Islas del Caribe sentimos como el clima social se ha deteriorado. Los seres humanos que vivimos en el Caribe tenemos la responsabilidad de cuidar lo que Dios nos ha legado. Estamos inmersos en la sociedad, nos comunicamos con ella y ella se reúne en nuestros templos.

La crisis económica y fiscal que vivimos en las islas que formamos el Sínodo del Caribe es un reflejo de la crisis social que atravesamos. Sentimos la crisis social ya que nuestros ministerios se afectan por ella. Somos responsables ante la sociedad y es por ello que nuestro mensaje, en todo momento, a tiempo y a destiempo, tiene que reflejar la esperanza amorosa; en una espera alegre.

El mismo Jesús el Cristo nos impulsa, con su palabra y su acción, a estar en medio de la sociedad proclamando la buena nueva, pero también actuándola y viviéndola, amando al pueblo, con todas las consecuencias que ello trae.

Hemos visto como la desesperanza se ha apoderado de un sector amplio de la sociedad. Debido a esa desesperanza es que se toman decisiones gubernamentales que no benefician a la mayoría del pueblo, solamente se beneficia un sector privilegiado. Es nuestro deber, como iglesia, el denunciar esa situación y el presentar acciones afirmativas y positivas para superarlas.

Tomemos por ejemplo la salud. Es tiempo ya que el gobierno, en todas nuestras islas, comience a dar pasos afirmativos para la creación de un Plan de Salud que atienda las necesidades de toda la sociedad. Afirmamos los pasos positivos que el Gobierno Federal ha comenzado a dar, en un diálogo abierto con todas las partes envueltas, buscando comenzar un cambio que beneficie al pueblo, a todos los sectores. Es un diálogo que incluye a toda la sociedad, que no excluye. La iglesia está llamada a llevar un mensaje de esperanza hacia el cambio positivo que se tiene que comenzar. Está llamada a inmiscuirse en la sociedad.

El ejemplo de la salud se puede dar en educación, seguridad social y en otras situaciones que logran el bien para el pueblo. Sigamos adelante, escudriñando la Palabra de Dios, meditándola y actuándola, sin perder la esperanza.


The hope

"The hope is the last thing that we loss", a Puerto Rican adage says. It is still the hope that moves the human being to act, amid personal, family and social crisis. The force that gives us the hope allows us to continue walking and acting in the time of life that God has given us.

In the Islands of the Caribbean we feel how the social climate has deteriorated. The human beings that live in the Caribbean have the responsibility of taking care of what God has bequeathed us. We are immersed in the society, we communicate with her and she meets in our temples.

The economic and fiscal crisis that we live in the islands that the Caribbean Synod forms is a reflection of the social crisis that we are going through. We feel the social crisis since our ministries are affected by it. We are responsible before the society and it is for this that our message, in all moment, on time and inopportunely, has to reflect the loving hope; in a cheerful waiting.

The same Jesus, the Christ impels us, with his word and his action, to be amid the society proclaiming the good news, but also acting and living it, loving the people, with all the consequences that it brings.

We have seen how the despair has taken possession of a wide sector of the society. Due to that despair we have seen decisions taken by the government that do not benefit to most of the country, only a privileged sector benefits. It is our duty, as church, to denounce this situation and presenting affirmative and positive actions to overcome them.

Let us take the health as an example. It is already time the government, in all our islands, begin to take affirmative steps for the creation of a Health Plan that assists the necessities of the whole society. We affirm the positive steps that the Federal Government has begun to give, in a open dialogue with all the parts involved, trying to start a change that benefits the country, for all the sectors. It is a dialogue that includes the whole society that does not exclude. The church is called to take a message of hope towards a positive change that has to begin. The church is called to interfere in the society.

The same example in relation to the health can also be given in education, social security and in other situations that achieve the best for the country. Let us continue ahead, examining the Word of God, meditating and acting it, without losing the hope.
